The Island Nation of Palau is in the Western Pacific Ocean at a distance of about 800 kilometers to the east of Philippines.

Best Time to Visit Palau

Palau Island experiences a warm climate and an average annual temperature of about 27 degree Celsius. January to June is best for underwater activities here.

How to reach

The Palau International Airport located in the Airai State is served by direct flights from Guam and Manila. From Guam, you can fly to Palau in about 2 hours and from Manila it takes two-and-a-half hours to reach Palau. Other Palau states like Angaur and Peleliu too have international airports.

To hop the Palau Islands, there are domestic flights or boats. There are taxis and cars to tour the Island.

Things you must do in Palau

Go Island-hopping. Only eight of the Islands in Palau are inhabited like the Islands of Peleliu, Koror, Angaur and Babeldaob. The Rock Islands – a rounded group of isles – that are uninhabited are worth a boat trip and have some good diving and snorkeling sites. Palau’s largest Island Babeldoab have some good trails to hike that includes waterfalls, lakes, villages, caves, relics of World War II, caves and a tropical jungle.

Snorkel and dive. Palau is known all over the world as a diving and snorkeling destination. Beneath the waters and the lagoons around that Island are wrecks of some 75 Word War II ships and seaplanes that are now home to tropical fish, corals and other marine creatures. Some famous dive sites here are Big Drop Off, Blue Corner and Turtle Cove. Snorkeling in Jellyfish Lake is good too. About 1400 fish species and 700 coral species and anemones are found in the waters around Palau. There are 30 snorkeling and diving sites here. Of the many marine creatures here, some are tuna, marlin, tiger shark, Orca, barracuda, a, gray reef sharks, manta rays and wahoo.

Explore the caves here. The shallow Chandelier Caves here have some ancient stalactites formations that are worth exploring.

Relax at some of the fine white sandy beaches here. Some of the famous ones here are the Ulong Beach with some undercut rock and the Honeymoon Beach.

Hike in Palau. This Island Nation has some interesting trails to hike through. One of the best hiking routes here is to Palau’s largest waterfall and to its highest peak – Mount Ngerchelchuus that is 713 foot high. The mountain harbours arpund 70 species of orchids and a rich variety of wildlife.

Go for a tour of the lakes here. Some of the lakes worth touring in Palau are the Lost Lake, Long Lake, Tarzan Lake and the Jellyfish Lake. The latter is perhaps the most popular of the lakes here. Here you will spot jellyfish floating on the surface. You can even snorkel in this lake, amidst the jellyfishes.

Dedicate some time to a sort-of educational trip. For a better understanding of the Island and the marine life here, tour the Palau Mari-culture Demonstration Center that has a glam hatchery. Visit the Dolphin Pacific in Koror that is dedicated to the study of dolphins and their behavior. Visit the Palau Aquarium that gives you a glimpse of the marine life and ecosystem. The Aquarium is known for one of the world’s largest reef exhibits.

Tour the sites on the land here. There is The German Light House Tour that offers a mixture of land and sea tours that include a tour of the century old coral lighthouse build during the German rule. A historic site here is the Airai Bai – an ancient meeting house that has been renovated.

Have a feast. Palau offers a diverse cuisine, centering around pork, chicken, seafood and local root vegetables. You can sense the Korean and Chinese influence on the cuisine here.

Palau is good for adventurous travelers and nature-lovers alike.

With an area of about 24,090 square kilometers, the Island of Sardinia is the second largest Island of the Mediterranean Sea, after Sicily. This Island has a regional autonomy, though geographically, it is a part of Italy.

Best time to visit

With a Mediterranean climate, the Island is ready to welcome tourists through the year, though the peak season here is that of summer – lasting from the month of June to August. This is when the water conditions are just right to allow good surfing and August is also a festive season here when Italians head to Sardinia.

With crystal clear and shallow waters, they are good for water-activities like swimming and other water sports.

The 2000 kilometers of coastline offer some great waters for windsurfing and kite-surfing. With caves, shipwrecks and an interesting marine life like the dolphins, diving is another popular activity of this Island. Some good sites here for diving are in the waters of Villasimius, Capo Carbonara, Cala Cipolla – the seven granite rock reefs, Capo Caccia – with its cave and tunnel systems and stalactites formation and the Archipels of La Maddalena National Park – home to reefs and sea weeds.

The Island has about 300 known caves and grottoes and many more await discovery. In Sardinia Italy tourism, so you must take a guided tour to these caves. Some of the significant ones here are the Neptune’s grotto, Grotta Verde- with rock formations, Grotta di Ispinigoli – home to stalactites formations up to 38 meters high and the Grotta del Bue Marino – known after the Mediterranean monk seal found today only on the Sardinian coast.

Adding another dimension to this Island’s landscape are its mountains. The Gennargentu mountain and the other mountains here are also home to wild life that include forests of cork oak, maquis and arbutus forests which are home to Sardinian deer, wild pigs, wild cats, falcons, kites and black vultures among others.

Also the attractions of Sardinia are the its only natural lake – the Lago Baratz near Argentiera, ponds and lagoons and rivers that flow down the magnificent mountains like the Flumendosa river and Tirso river.

The Island has underground springs as well in its grottoes and caves that also form waterfalls.

The Island of Sardinia has villages that take you on a journey of different landscapes and cultures, enchanting you throughout.

Sardinia has everything a traveler needs in a vacation – beautiful terrain, charming villages, plenty of activities and not to miss out the amazing beaches.
