The Easter Islands are known to be the “isolated islands on Earth”. The early settlers on the island called the island as “Te Pito O Te Henua” which means Navel of the World. The island lies on the Pacific Ocean in Polynesia.
Easter Islands are known for its famous “enigmatic giant busts” which were built centuries ago”. These figures reflect the culture and the “dramatic rise and fall of the most isolated Polynesian culture”.
The main tourist attraction in Easter Islands is the Moai. The Moai are archaelogical features which should be treated with care because they are far more fragile than they seem. Often the Moai is placed upon ceremonial platforms and burials which are known as the “Ahu”. Walking on the Ahu is considered to be a disrespectful gesture.
The places where you can visit for free are found mostly on the coastline of the island. There are two amazing volcanic craters situated on the island – the Rano Kau and the Rano Raraku. The Rano Raraku is a slightly inland quarry where the Moai carvings were believed to be originated from. This volcanic crater is said to have provided the stones for the great figures.
Whereas Rano Kau is the “remains of a volcanic cinder cone” and is filled with freshrainwater and also boasts a “mottled unearthly appearance” which is simply mindblowing.
There are two exceptionally beautiful white sand beaches on the Island. Anakena lies to the northern side of the island and is known for its excellent “shorereak surfing”.
The second island is a “hidden gem” called Ovahe. The main attraction of this beach are the breathtaking cliffs.
The major activities in the area is scuba diving and snorkeling. The popular spots are known as the Motu Nui and Motu Itu. Another major attraction of this place is the extensive cave system. There are a couple of caves which are very interesting and most of them are found near Ana Kakenga. The caves are strewn with lava eruptions which took place some years back probably.
There are many places where you can find accmmodation. There are a couple of lodges and resorts in the area.
Trying out the local cuisine is a must. The most Chilian food is a must try out.
The Easter Island is known for being the most isolated and one of the most beautiful islands in the world.It is worth visiting the place.
